Our Story

We’re a York family through and through. Our roots in the city can be traced back more than 300 years, and we’re proud to call this wonderful place home.

Our apartments are owned by our family, and their story began more than 25 years ago, when the building was purchased by the head of the family. For many years, he ran his business from the premises, making it a familiar part of our working lives.

As retirement approached, he began to imagine a new chapter for the building. What followed was a real labour of love: after a lengthy planning process, including securing permission to rebuild the top floor, he patiently transformed the property into three individual apartments.

It wasn’t a quick project, but the building means a great deal to us. We’ve put plenty of thought and care into creating comfortable, welcoming places where guests can relax and feel at home.

Lucy looks after the day-to-day running and management of the apartments, from guest communications and bookings to making sure everything is ready for each stay. The rest of the family still lends a hand from time to time, including parents, siblings and children.

A former primary school teacher turned property administrator, Lucy loves interiors, old buildings and local history. She’s also known to disappear down the occasional York history rabbit hole and emerge several hours later with far more information than she set out to find.

We love sharing our home city with visitors. Alongside York’s famous sights, there are little streets, hidden corners, independent shops, pubs and restaurants just waiting to be discovered.
